Here is the List of Bollywood Movies That were Flop This Year

Shweta Murkute

India churns out the highest number of films every year. And while Bollywood does get films like Dangal and Baahubali which break and make new records, there are years, when the list of box office duds are much higher than we can imagine. Stressing on the fact that content has become the hero of films today, the audience doesn't think twice in rejecting even the costliest of films, which boasts of the biggest star cast, if it fails to establish a connect with the fans. 2017 has been one such year when some of the grandest, much awaited movies left us disappointed to such a degree, that it might take a while for the audience to recuperate from the shock. Scroll through for the list of the biggest Bollywood flops of 2017 so far.

Haseena Parkar

Even before the release of the movie, Haseena Parkar had made headlines because of the unusual casting of Shraddha Kapoor in the lead role of Dawood Ibrahim's sister, Haseena Parkar. However, so disastrous was the performance of the movie that nobody noticed when it released and when it left the theatres.

Simran

Kangana Ranaut's latest offering was expected to be the movie that would break Bollywood's streak of poor performance. Embroiled in multiple controversies, the movie was already making headlines. To top it all, with Hansal Mehta at the helm and Kangana Ranaut as the lead actor, the movie was expected to be failsafe. But, alas! Simran was released at the same time as Lucknow Central and overshadowed it in all fronts. However, in the box office front, both were at par. Simran was made at an estimated budget of Rs 30 crore and managed to recover around Rs 29 crore.

Sarkar 3

Ram Gopal Varma seems to make a new film in this franchise when he wants to take a break from his nasty Twitter rants and trouble making statements. Sarkar 3 came out of nowhere, and left without any trace too. Amitabh Bachchan, Jackie Shroff and Manoj Bajpayee also couldn't save the film. Of course, they can't if the film lacked an appealing storyline. The film made Rs 9.93 crore in India.

A Gentleman

A Gentleman could have done better business, but unfortunately, fortune did not favour it. After going through a change in title, the Sidharth Malhotra-Jacqueline Fernandez starrer got a quirky promo. But it didn't help the cause as audiences stayed away from it.

Jab Harry Met Sejal

From its shooting last year, to the intense promotions, exciting trailers and sizzling chemistry between Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma, everything seemed right for this Imtiaz Ali directorial. But it took the audience just one shot to reject it completely. The film garnered such bad reviews that even the distributors are lining up outside Shah Rukh's house for a refund.

Jagga Jasoos

Jagga Jasoos was one unfortunate film to be featured on the list! The Anurag Basu film had a fresh feel, had good songs and the set up too was appealing. Unfortunately, it failed to woo the audience and earned just Rs 54.5 cr.

Raabta

This movie too made headlines because of its reincarnation plot, and received mixed reviews upon its release. But it could not set the cash registers ringing and sank without a trace. Raabta was made on a budget of roughly Rs 33 crore but ended up recovering only Rs 25 crore. The movie stars Sushant Singh Rajput, Kriti Sanon and Jim Sarbh.

Meri Pyaari Bindu

The film looked like a sweet rom-com starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Parineeti Chopra. It was also Pari's return after three years, and she even made her singing debut. But in the absence of a concrete story, the film fell flat. It only garnered Rs 9.59 crore in India.

Noor

What was set to be a lively comedy-drama based on Saba Imtiaz's 'Karachi, You're Killing Me' turned out to be one of the most disastrous movies of the year. Made on a budget of roughly Rs 24 crore, this Sonakshi Sinha-starrer only recovered an estimated Rs 11 crore. Not only that, critics unanimously panned the movie, making sure Noor would leave no trace on the box office.

Rangoon

Rangoon was expected to be a class-meets-mass product. The film saw a poor opening, but one hoped there would be a turnaround. That did not happen, as the reviews were not encouraging at all. For Saif Ali Khan, Shahid Kapoor and Kangana Ranaut, the film's poor run was a shock. The film could only recover approx Rs 20.68 crore.

 Ok Jaanu

This one was the first release of 2017. And as much glossy and romantic it looked from the packaging, given the fact that Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor were teaming up again, it just couldn't recreate their Aashiqui 2 magic. A remake of Mani Ratnam's Tamil film O Kadhal Kanmani, it left the audience disappointed, and earned only Rs 23.64 crore in India.

Tubelight

It looks like SRK and Salman Khan not just compete in terms of blockbusters, but even failed movies. This one came from the Bhai of Bollywood. Salman teamed up with director Kabir Khan for a third time expecting to deliver another Bajrangi Bhaijaan. But Salman's simpleton act did not go down too well with the critics. They called Tubelight "weak, stretched, trying too hard, stale, over acting..." It became the worst performer for Salman in the last few years.
