2017 is about to end and here I have listed down few news that made a buzz all around our nation. Few things get stuck in our mind and here are few news that we can't forget in coming years. Here are top stories (news) of this year:

10) Dangal become the first Indian film to gross over 2000 crore rupees in all languages worldwide


 

Among other milestones, 'Dangal' has become the fifth highest-grossing non-English film in the history, and the highest-grossing live actions sports movie of 2017. Earlier, the Aamir Khan-starrer became the only non-Hollywood film to be listed among the top 16 highest-grossing films of all time at the China box office. The movie has already beaten movies like 'Captain America: Civil War', 'xXx: Return Of Xander Cage', 'Transformers: Dark Of The Moon', 'Titanic 3D' and 'The Jungle Book'.

'Dangal' is now behind world's biggest blockbuster 'Avatar' and Chris Pratt's 'Jurassic World,' which are positioned at number 15 and 14, respectively at the China box office.

9) Manushi Chhillar won the 6th Miss World

 

India's Manushi Chhillar has won the Miss World beauty pageant for the year 2017. The win comes 17 years after Priyanka Chopra brought home the coveted title in the year 2000. Andrea Meza, who is Miss Mexico was the first runner up and Stephanie Hill from England was second runner up. Around 108 women from across the world participated in the beauty pageant.

8) Actor Shashi Kapoor dies aged 79 



Veteran film actor Shashi Kapoor has died in Mumbai aged 79. The younger brother of Raj Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor, he acted in notable films such as Dewaar, Junoon etc. He was also famous for his theatre work. He is survived by daughter Sanjana Kapoor and sons Kunal and Karan. Here you can know more about Shashi Kapoor.

7) Protestors demand a ban on Padmavati 



In several parts of the country, protests against Padmavati intensified on Friday. Several people in the states of Haryana, Tamil Nadu, and Rajasthan, took to the streets demanding a ban on the movie on the grounds that it distorted facts and hurt sentiments. The entrance to the Chittorgarh Fort was also blocked by protestors who stated that they will not allow the film to be released.

6)  M C Mary Kom wins gold medal in 48 kg category in Asian Women's Boxing Championship. 



Mary Kom notched up her fifth gold medal in 48 kg category in Asian Women's Boxing Championships at Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. She has won World Championship 5 times and has Olympic Bronze medal to her credit. This was Mary Kom’s fifth final in only six appearances, which means she remains unbeaten in the summit clash of the continental championship.

This is Mary Kom's first international gold medal since the 2014 Asian Games and her first medal in over a year.

5) Lok Sabha to discuss The Goods and Service Tax in the Winter session of parliament today 



The winter session of Parliament is underway from December 15. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will introduce the amendments in the 'Goods and Service Tax Amendments Bill' on the sixth day of the session in Lok Sabha. Cyclone Ockhi which has caused heavy damage in parts of South India would also be a part of the discussion in the session of parliament. Discussion on Triple Talaq which was scheduled to be held today will now be done next week

4) Ban on Condom Ads on TV 



All the condom promotion ads will be banned from Indian television as they pose indecent content for children. According to officials, the content can harm the psyche of children. The ads, however, can run from 10 PM to 6 AM. No TV channels are allowed to telecast the ads at any other time. Failure to obey the order may cause legal action against them.

3) Kulbhushan Jadhav, On Death Row In Pak, Gets 30 Minutes To Meet Family

Kulbhushan Jadhav, the Indian sentenced to death in Pakistan, met his wife and mother for around 45 minutes across a glass screen, more than a year after he was arrested by the Pakistani army and accused of spying. Pakistan's foreign office tweeted photos of the meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and commented: "We honour our commitments".
Going by the tweeted photos, Kulbhushan Jadhav could speak to his family only through intercom, with five officials present, and no physical contact allowed.

2) Ivanka Trump Thanks Telangana CM for Warm Hospitality 


Ivanka Trump, who visited Hyderabad, India, on 28 and 29 November, has thanked the Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao for the warm hospitality. The Trump daughter, who was in the country for the annual Global Entrepreneurship Summit, called her experience exciting and incredible. She even expressed her desire to visit the country again. While in the city, she visited the Golconda Fort and attended the dinner hosted by PM Narendra Modi.

1) 2G Spectrum: Verdict on India's biggest 2G scam to come today 


A special CBI court in New Delhi is going to pronounce the verdict on India's biggest 2G scam on December 21, Thursday. The court will decide if the former telecom minister A Raja is guilty or not. CBI along with Enforcement Directorate has lodged a case against the former telecom minister, DMK MP Kanimozhi, and others. The trial for this 2G scam began in 2011. It was stated that the state suffered a loss of around 1.76 lakh crores because of this fraud.
