Author’s Take

Do not ever force yourself into a posture. Do not try to be perfect. Keep trying until the asana (posture) grows on you. This is path of yoga that teaches you to be resilient and patient. Patience, practice and perseverance alone can unlock this ageless tradition of yoga.

Starting from the cover it’s beautiful and perfect according to the plot. The title of the book “My Friendship with Yoga” is nostalgic and captivating.

Yoga means union. Yoga is the perfect opportunity to be curious about who you are. This book is divided into three parts. The first part start with the story of Revathi and what yoga is and her foray into yoga and it also explains about body, concentration, bandhas, meditation along with that author shares some interesting stories from history. The Second Part of the book is about Asana (Postures). Asanas are explained with illustrations. Step by step process of doing asana and benefits are explained in well. While reading the second part one can feel someone is guiding them the steps one by one and help them with some tricks to achieve them. The third part of the book is about daily yoga practice  with detailed and clear instructions on things to do on each day of the week to make yoga an integral part of your daily routine. The words were simple and the language is lucid which eased the reading.

I won’t say that reading this book entirely changes your life but I’m sure your approach towards life and many other will surely get influenced. This book en lights us on subconscious mind and it’s power in various forms. Yoga has been my part of my life when I was very young and I have been practicing on and off but it was not that regular. Yoga is more than the physical movement; yoga shapes the mind as well as the biceps. I have found that the more I practice yoga and meditation, the more I become intimately acquainted with my mind. I am more aware of my thoughts. In the time that I dedicate for my yoga practice, I always make a clear intention to set aside any anticipation of what is to come and any worry of what has gone, giving my mind a break. I am no saint but with these short positive affirmations that I feed my mind and soul with each time I step onto the mat I feel lighter.

Your body can do it.  It’s your mind you need to convince

Highly recommended to all.. This is a must read for everyone who are planning to start their yoga regime.
