What's wrong with us: A rant.

Anna Anandita

Welcome to another of my rants on what is wrong with Indians. Another important issue that befuddles me is PADS. That's right. Pads.

There are so many of us, the so called weaker gender, who become a victim of wrong pads. We end up using pads that are not suitable for us. Well maybe not so much in cities, but rural areas. Ours is a nation primarily of rural parts. Many girls end up using wrong pads, completely unsuitable to their bodies. Just because the pharmacy wale bhaiya gave it to us.

This entirely baffles me. Dear pharmacy wale bhaiya, do you know anything at all about periods?? Do you have them? No? Then how come you assume you can give me any pads when I ask for one and that will work?  I have them. Let me choose what would work for me. Why is buying pads considered to be something entirely out of the world? Why does everyone have to stare? Dude!! I am buying something I need. It is entirely natural. It isn't a five armed alien I am interacting with!!

And the packing!! Well wrapped with newspaper or the famous black polythene. Why?? It would probably be less conspicuous without that!!

I guess we can all agree, mental health and sexual well being are two of the most important issues amongst what is wrong with India. Both are hardly treated as normal. Why does the country lack a well structured education regarding this?

Back to my current rant, majority of the female population are entirely misinformed about pads and periods. And there builds the basis for health issues. Why don't we do that?? Isn't it important!!

I guess that is enough rant for the time being.

What I would really wish for everyone to do regarding this issue is TALK. INFORM THEM. Do not neglect it. It is important. Treat it as it supposed to be. Absolutely NORMAL!!!
