A couple of easy questions to begin with… Why do you write? What keeps you motivated during creative slumps?

I write because that’s the only thing I love. During my slump, it’s my dad’s voice shouting at me to finish the book, so yeah that’s one way to break the slump.

What kind of research do you do, and how long do you spend researching before beginning a book?

I don’t research initially. I research around the arc I have created. That saves time.

Please tell us something more about your latest book?

Eye of Brahma is a sequel to Kalki Book 1 and it continues the journey of Kalki, Manasa, Kali and Arjan. There’s a lot of fights, duels, battles, strategies, twists and history.

How did you embark upon the idea of humanizing Hindu gods?

I try to see the people around me and add their characteristics in it.

People today both young and old are glued to their smartphones or computers. How can mythology be made interesting enough to inculcate that feeling of curiosity regarding Indian myths so that they would themselves be motivated to uncover the complexities?

Yeah I know. I am too. That’s how I became a writer. Haha. It’s just about the characters. If you make your characters flawed, the feeling of curiosity and the interest would come itself.

What are your hobbies, passion other than writing?

I read and I love to play video games.

Do you recall the first ever book/novel you read?

Oliver Twist.

What are your top three favorite books of all time?

The Godfather

The Devotion of Suspect X

Game of Thrones

If you had the opportunity to live anywhere in the world for a year while writing a book that took place in that same setting, where would you choose?

Paris!

Have any of your literary teachers ever told you that on growing up you would become a published one day?

No they didn’t. In fact, no one really liked my writing as I grew up.

Tell us something interesting that has occurred since you became an author?

I get proposals from girls so that’s been sweet.

Now when you look back at your past, do you feel accomplished?

I do. But also I don’t. I have this craving of achieving more.

I would like you to share something about yourself with the readers. Something that does not go in the about the author section something that is the real you?

I love to eat those Blue packet Lays. Magic Masala.

And finally, A message for aspiring writers?

Don’t give up.

Thank you.

It was really a privilege interviewing you. Hope you enjoyed the interview.
