The superhero film industry is exploding with new properties, new release dates, delayed releases, big casting decisions and lots more! There's no denying that the most popular genre around these days is the superhero movie. 2018 is going to be all about capes and some stunning action sequences. So have a look at these Superhero movies which you shouldn't miss next year.
10) Aquaman:
Jason Momoa is playing Aquaman, the superhero with the ability to harness the power of the ocean. Starring alongside Momoa is Amber Herd as Mera, Nicole Kidman as Queen Atlanna, Patrick Wilson as Orm, and Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will also appear as Aquaman's longstanding nemesis, Black Manta, which hints at there being some kind of disagreement over exactly who should have control of the ocean.
9) X-Men: Dark Phoenix:
Jean Grey was seen struggling with some dark powers at the end of Apocalypse, and now those will arrive full throttle and transform her into the Dark Phoenix, while the X-men would go to any lengths to save her, even if it breaks them apart.
8) Venom:
The movie will have Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, a photographer who becomes infected by an alien lifeform and turns into a half-human, half-alien Villain-Venom who he sees Spider-Man as his enemy. This is planned as an R-rated adaptation of the symbiote storyline, described as something of a twist on the horror genre, and Venom will be portrayed as an anti-hero with Carnage serving as the villain.
7) Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse:
For all the animation fans out there, you are in for a treat as Sony Pictures has got your back with an animated film featuring your favorite Spidey. But the film would feature Miles Morales, rather than Peter Parker. Miles Morales is another popular version of the character and just like Peter, he too was bitten by a radioactive spider and developed superpowers, and became SpiderMan.
6) Ant-Man and The Wasp:
Set after the events of 'Captain America: Civil War', the movie would revolve around Scott Lang trying to balance his life as a father and being Ant-Man. He is soon presented with a new mission requiring him to team up with Hope Van Dyne as the Wasp.
5) The Incredibles 2:
If you say that the kid inside you didn't squeal on seeing the teaser of 'The Incredibles 2', you are lying. Although by next year, it'd be 14 years since the first part was released, what's important is that we finally have a second installment. In an interview, John Lasseter, Pixar's chief creative officer said that the film will begin "a minute" after the events of the first film that is when The Incredibles encountered a villain called The Underminer. "It starts with the Underminer and a big old set piece," he said. "You know that at the end of the first movie when he comes up and you see the family dressed as superheroes? Well that's where start this movie."
4) The New Mutants:
The New Mutants is a standalone spinoff that expands the X-Men movie universe. The series, already part of the X-Men Comics universe, introduces a new crop of mutant characters born with special powers. Boone will co-write with Knate Gwaltney. Simon Kinberg will produce with Lauren Shuler Donner.
3) Deadpool 2
In September 2015, Kinberg commented on the possibility of a sequel for Deadpool: "we were talking about the sequel while we were making the movie just because when you make a film like this that's from a serialized source material, you hope that it's the first of many". By the release of Deadpool, Fox had already greenlit the sequel, with Reese and Wernick returning to write, and Miller being looked at to return as director. In April 2016, Fox confirmed that the sequel is in development with Miller, Reese, Wernick and Reynolds returning.
2) Black Panther
Black Panther had already made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in 'Captain America: Civil War', where T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman) was coming to terms with the decision of becoming king after the death of his father. And now, in the upcoming movie we'd get to see the challenges and threats that T'Challa faces as the new leader, specifically from Erik Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan) a Wakandan outcast who wants to overthrow T'Challa.
1) Avengers : Infinity War
Easily the biggest of all superhero movies of 2018, Infinity War will continue after the events of 'Avengers: Age of ultron', and 'Captain America: Civil War'.
The Avengers are still torn apart from the events of Civil War, but they must join their forces with the Guardians of the Galaxy to defeat the powerful Thanos before he brings the universe to an end.
