The Last Hug by Dinakar Reddy

Dinakar Writes

The Last drop of his blood stopped circulating in his body. He felt cold on the streets of Chennai in the summer season. He lost one leg in world war-I but he lost everything now.

She promised that she will wait for him. Is she alive?

He remembered the last smell of her hair. The soft hands he touched before going to serve the British Empire in war. She has given utmost confidence to him and promised that she will wait till he comes.

She has thought different. She wants to help soldiers in War.  He has to go and fight for Empire as commander of one of Indian Princely state Troop. But how can she live without him? She decided to serve. It is obvious.

The day came. He has to left for the Middle East with the soldiers from Madras Presidency. But he doesn’t know she also joins the war. She wants to heal the wounds of soldiers. She is a Nurse. She can’t live alone on those painful days.

They wanted that Night should never end. The Romantic weather in Southern Part of India doesn’t want to separate them. The cool breeze surrounded the couple like saying don’t leave us.

War always brings sorrow. He fought and killed many enemies.  He lost a leg, but able to make his country visit. He searched for her like a mother searches for her baby.

The killing of Nurses is not at all a pity incident. It’s a shameful thing. Shame on humanity.

He entered Kaveri River by reminding her and crying and shouting her name.

He went half of the distance. He started feeling her smile, her eyes and the LAST HUG received from her. After some time Kaveri flowing as usual. The Night is going to end.

Is this love? Had he met her? Can Love stop the war?

You will definitely not get the answer by searching through the pages of history.

The Answer is there in you. In your Home. In your Love. In your heart. It is there in India.

It is Vasudika Kutumbam. That means The World is your family.
