My Take
“Though it was winter, spring had returned to their lives. The long grey winter veil had finally lifted, making way for spring. They knew that someday, winter may return, but it did not worry them for as long as they were together they could face the hardest of winter and together set on A QUEST FOR SPRING! “
Starting from the cover there is an abstract image of Golden shower tree (Cassia fistula) offshoot gives a feel of spring season and the title “A Quest For Spring†is intriguing from other usual romantic fictions, it indeed developed the curiosity within me to know what author meant by it. It’s always great to read a book when it not only has an interesting cover and title but a great story as well.
The story is a bag of emotions, friendship, love, espionage, religious differences, politics, patriotism, suspense, conspiracies, envy and jealousy, family, betrayal, mental issues, terrorism, trust, vengeance, duty, nation, faith, fraternity marriage, separation, reunion.
This is the story of main protagonist Amolika Nath and Raehan Farooque. They are totally different from each other from different religions and opposite personalities. The plot is divided into four parts.
Amolika was raised by her (Kaka) Brigadier Bhaskar Nath as her parents died at her very young age. Amolika wants to pursue her higher studies in journalism for which she wants to go to United Kingdom. Kaka makes a deal with her to test her journalist attitude, Kaka sends her on to a mission she’s unaware of, on the other hand Amolika readily agrees for the task to spy on Raehan from Kashmiri political family and report the details to Vikram. She joins St. Paul’s Institute for Diploma and meet Raehan as her classmate. Amolika befriend with Raehan to gather information about him and later they becomes close friends and their friendship turns into love. But destiny had some other plans for them on the last day of college Raehan life was in danger and Amolika risk her life to safe him and ask for a promise to “Never to look back , never to return!â€.
Amolika moves UK and joins Journalism at Sheffield University and trying to forget Raehan and Milie was with there to support her as best friend through thick and thin times. Later Amolika becomes prominent journalist at London. Kaka forces her to settled down and marry his favorite army cadet Vikram. Later Vikram and Amolika plans to get divorce as things between them were not going well.
Raehan kept his promise to Amolika and he never looks back. After completing law as per his grandfather dreams, then he joins politics and is going to become Chief Minister of valley. He gets married with Nazia and are blessed with two beautiful twins sons.
Amolika was appointed to cover election campaign of Raehan. They were separated by destiny and after sixteen years of separation they are going to meet again.
What will happen next? Will Raehan and Amolika have a happy ending? What destiny have stored for them?? To know more grab the copy.
Language of the book is simple and easy way to comprehend for any kind of reader. Author has portrayed each and every character with utmost significance of their own and every one of them has done justice to their respective roles throughout the story, thus making it easy for the reader to relate to them, their views, their actions and reactions. I loved how the character Amolika is portrayed ambitious girl with loving n caring heart. Narration of incidents is done brilliantly. There are some wonderful quotes in the book which I loved a lot. The mention of events like Sachin Tendulker, Princess Diana death and Singer Jagjit Singh incidents give a realistic touch. The plot is worth being made into a Bollywood Movie. The story is fast-paced and thrilling with twists and turns. A few punctuation errors here and there need to be rectified but they can be neglected considering a debut novel. With every turning page the curiosity to read further keeps on increasing.

Love is not something you decide. Love finds you in the most unusual of places and at most unexpected of times. It just happens and you don’t even realize it till you are deep into it

An engrossing read that’s capable of keeping the reader on edge till the very end.

Monica Mujumdar Dixit was born in Raipur and did her schooling in Bhopal and Mumbai. She went onto graduate in Commerce from the Mithibai College in Mumbai and completed her LLB degree from the prestigious ILS College, Pune. She is a lawyer by profession and has practiced at the High Court of Bombay, Nagpur bench, and also worked as a Legal Analyst with a publishing house, publishing law journals. She loves cricket, is an avid reader and also blogs movie reviews. She Lives in Nagpur with her husband Rohit and daughter, Aahana. This is her debut novel.
