Movies We Are Excited to See in 2018

1.   Padman


Director R Balki’s newest venture ‘Padman’ has been in talks since last year and stars Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte. The movie is inspired by the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham – the 2016 Padma Shri winner who invented a low-cost sanitary pad machine and voiced concerns about the unhealthy menstrual practices in rural areas of the country. It is time Indians (especially men) started talking openly about periods without it seeming like taboo. We hope this movie will make a difference! It’s all set to release on the 26th of January.

2.   2.0


Akshay Kumar most awaited upcoming Bollywood movie Robot 2. Robot 2 features Tamil superstar Rajnikanth in the lead role also star Akshay Kumar, Amy Jackson. Robot 2 is directed by S Shankar and set to release 25 January 2018. Robot 2 is a sci-fi movie and its budget almost 450 crores which is the biggest budget movie ever made in India.

3.   Pari


Honestly speaking, when the first look of this movie came out, we were floored and shocked at the same time! This movie intrigues every nerve inside us because it’s rather confusing – the poster looks like it’s a horror film, but it actually is a love story featuring Anushka Sharma. ‘Pari’ hits the theatres on 9th Feb 2018!

4.   Aiyaari


Sidharth Malhotra and Manoj Bajpayee are coming together in the upcoming crime drama film Aiyaary. The film is directed by the extremely talented Neeraj Pandey and is scheduled to release on 9 February. It is said to be a real life story based on the relationship of a mentor and protege. Pandey has made some striking movies like A Wednesday, Special 26, Baby in the past. Aiyaary is a movie that we are looking out for because of Neeraj Pandey.

5.   Veere Di Wedding


Forget female oriented films, we desperately needed a girl gang movie and we are glad Veere Di Wedding will be giving us some respite from the heat this May!

6.   Manikarnika


Kangana Ranaut is ready to play the role of Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi in the upcoming epic biopic Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi which is releasing in April next year. Ranaut who is known to play strong characters in her movies has seen a rough patch at the box office this year with Rangoon and Simran falling flat. See if Manikarnika brings her back in the no.“1” race. The film also stars television actress Ankita Lokhande who is making her big screen debut with this one.

7.   Kedarnath


It will mark the debut of Sara Ali Khan, daughter of Saif and Amrita. She has been cast opposite Sushant Singh Rajput and Abhishek Kapoor is directing this one. The storyline has not been made public yet but rumour has it that Sushant is playing a tour guide near Kedarnath and she is a tourist.

8.   Raazi


Meghna Gulzar, who has made quite a buzz in the industry with films like Filhaal and Talvar is all ready to shoot her next directorial Raazi. This upcoming Bollywood movie will feature the much acclaimed Alia Bhatt who came up with Dear Zindagi and Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya this year paired up with the Masaan actor Vicky Kaushal. This upcoming Bollywood movie will be telling a story of a Kashmiri girl played by Alia married to a Pakistani Army officer played by Vicky, in order to spy for Indian intelligence with invaluable information during the 1971 Indo-Pak war. The movie is expected to release in May 2018.

9.   Saaho


After the worldwide blockbuster, Baahubali, Prabhas will make a comeback in 2018 with his movie Saaho. It also features Bollywood actress Shraddha Kapoor in lead role. The shooting of the movie began in June 2017.

10. Race 3


The third installment of the Race franchise, Race 3 gets bigger than ever with Salman Khan playing the lead role. The first two movies were revenge stories that had Saif Ali Khan playing the protagonist. The film produced by Tips Films will be directed by Remo D’Souza and also stars Bobby Deol. It will be interesting to watch Remo D’Souza and Salman Khan coming together for the first time. The movie is releasing on Eid.

11.    Fanney Khan


Fanney Khan is the official remake of Oscar nominated Dutch film from 2000, “Everybody’s Famous”! Fanney Khan is a musical comedy which features Anil Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Rajkummar Rao in the lead roles. Earlier it was speculated that R. Madhavan was to play the lead role opposite Aishwarya, but he backed out later. Anil, who had last worked with the leading lady in Taal, will appear together on screen with her after a long break of 17 long years. The movie is expected to release on 13th April, 2018. 

12. Chanda Mama Door Ke


Creative as the title may sound, the movie is not a kid's movie. This movie will have Sushant Singh Rajput play an astronaut, along with Nawazuddin and Madhavan in pivotal roles. Sushant is preparing since long now and even went to NASA to get additional training for the role. Will this be our answer to an ‘Insterstellar' or ‘Gravity'? Only time will tell.

13.   The Sanjay Dutt biopic


One of the most awaited upcoming Bollywood Movie of 2018. Sanjay Dutt Biopic Dutt Starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Dia Mirza and Anushka Sharma at the lead role. Ranbir Kapoor playing the lead role of Sanjay Dutt biopic. Sanjay Dutt biopic Dutt is directed by Rajkumar Hirani.

14.     Gold


Akshay Kumar who had a spectacular 2017 is coming up with Gold in 2018. It is a sports film being helmed by Reema Kagti. The film is based on the life of hockey player Balbir Singh who was a member of the team that won the first Olympic medal for India as an independent nation in 1948. The film is being produced under Excel Entertainment. Lets gear up for another inspiring biopic releasing on Independence Day 2018.

15.   Thugs Of Hindostan


Whenever Aamir Khan is associated with a film, it becomes big on its own. With Thugs Of Hindostan, Khan is joining hands with Yash Raj Banner. This period film which is releasing on Diwali 2018 also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh. Directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, the movie is already turning heads with the unique look of Aamir Khan. See what happens when two biggest stars of Indian cinema, Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan come together.

16.  Dhadak


It was only few  weeks ago that Karan Johar introduced Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter to the world of Bollywood with the posters of their upcoming film 'Dhadak' and now the filmmaker has announced the commencement of the film's shoot. He took to Twitter and shared an image of Janhvi and Ishaan facing their backs to the camera with the clapperboard. While Janhvi is seen donning a vibrant pink hued ensemble, Ishaan sports a blue batik print kurta. 'Dhadak' is a remake of the Marathi film 'Sairat' and is scheduled to release on July 6, 2018. While 'Sairat' was set in rural Maharashtra, 'Dhadak' seems to be based out of north India.
 

17.   Simmba


Beware, bad guys, Ranveer Singh is the new cop in town and he goes by the name Sangram Bhalerao! The Bollywood live wire will soon be seen in his cop avatar in the action flick 'Simmba', being directed by Rohit Shetty and co-produced by Karan Johar.
KJo along with Ranveer and the producers of the film, took to Twitter to share the first official poster of the film featuring Ranveer in a police uniform complete with the handlebar moustache and aviators. Karan took the lead to introduce the film with the caption, "28th December 2018!! ROHIT SHETTY will be back!!!! RANVEER SINGH as #SIMMBA."

18. October


Actor Varun Dhawan, who was last seen with Taapsee Pannu and Jacqueline Fernandez in 'Judwaa 2', is all set to romance debutant Banita Sandhu in Shoojit Sircar's 'October'.
The film, which is extensively shot in Delhi and Manali, was wrapped up in just 38 days. Banita, is all set to make her Bollywood debut through ‘October’

19.    Drive


Sushant Singh Rajput and Jacqueline Fernandez action Thriller upcoming Bollywood movie Drive based on car racing. Drive is set to release 2 March 2018.

20.  Sui Dhaaga – Made In India


Sui Dhaaga – Made In India is an upcoming Bollywood movie of 2018 Starring Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma at the lead role.
