Launch guidelines

Who can launch

Launchpad is for working software products: web apps, mobile apps, developer tools, APIs, browser extensions and similar. The product must be live and usable (a free plan, trial, demo or paid sign-up) at the URL you submit. Each product is listed once, identified by its website domain.

You need a TinkerFeed account to submit. You can have one submission in progress at a time.

What gets rejected

  • Adult or sexual content, and gambling or betting products.
  • Malware, phishing, scams, get-rich-quick schemes, or anything deceptive.
  • Broken sites: the site must load over HTTPS and work.
  • Duplicates of a product that is already listed. If we already added your product to the catalog, claim it instead.
  • Pages that are not a software product (blogs, agencies, single landing pages with nothing to use).

Automated checks look at HTTPS reachability, a domain blocklist and duplicates. Anything flagged goes to a person for review, and rejections always include a reason.

How the community task works

Free launches start with a short task so that every maker also gives something to the community:

  • Upvote 3 different products that are live on Launchpad, and
  • leave 1 genuine comment of at least 40 characters on a live product.

Your own products don't count, upvoting the same product twice doesn't count, and copied comments don't count. Progress updates on your dashboard as you go. If you delete the comment that completed your task, or it is removed as spam, your launch goes back to waiting for the task (unless it has already gone live).

When the task is done, automated checks run. If they pass, your launch is scheduled automatically; if not, a person reviews it.

Scheduling

Launches go live at 00:01 (America/Los Angeles). We schedule at most 10 launches a day, on a random day of the assigned week. If that week is full, your launch moves to the next week with space, and we email you the date and time.

If your homepage links to your Launchpad page with our badge when you are approved, your launch can be scheduled earlier. We re-check the badge from time to time.

Curated listings, claims and takedowns

To make Launchpad useful from day one, TinkerFeed adds some well-known products to the catalog itself. These pages say “Added by TinkerFeed”. They start with no upvotes or comments: we never create votes or comments on anyone's behalf.

Claim: if you run a listed product, open its page and choose “Is this your product? Claim it”. Verify with a code sent to an email address on the product's domain, or by adding a meta tag to your homepage. After that, the listing shows your name and you can edit it from your dashboard.

Takedown: if you would rather not be listed, use “Request removal” on the same page. Once approved, the listing disappears from Launchpad pages and the sitemap.

Comment rules

  • Be specific and constructive. Say what you tried, what worked and what didn't.
  • No spam, self-promotion, links to unrelated products, or copied comments.
  • No harassment, hate, or personal attacks. Disagree with the product, not the person.
  • No vote trading or coordinated upvoting. Upvotes and comments must come from real people using their own accounts.

Use “Report” on a product or comment if something breaks these rules. Moderators may remove comments or listings and suspend accounts.
